He directed a few episodes for serials like Bokya Satbande, Valvacha Paus etc for Apte. Afterwards, in 1997 he met the legendary actor / director Vinay Apte who liked his work and gave him an opportunity. He was shooting for a telefilm called Abhinetri but even that was cancelled. The year 1994 was a challenging year for him in terms of his career, as he shot pilot(test) episodes for many serials, but none of them were converted to long TV shows. He also assisted him in other serials like ‘Raja Raje’ and ‘Mala Nahi Jamayche’. He worked as an assistant director to director Baba Sawant for his serials on Doordarshan ‘Dinmaan’ and ‘Satyawati’. Professional Life: Mandar started his career as an assistant director in 1990.
